We are looking for a strategic, analytical Director of Engineering to align the Direct Ordering engineering team goals to organizational priorities, with the ability to partner with Business and Product Leadership to align your engineering teams in support of the roadmap. The ideal candidate will be passionate about scaling and can align their decisions’ impact with the overall business goals. In demonstrating your technical expertise and bias for action, you will develop high-performing engineering teams focused on building the hospitality engine.
Reporting to the VP GM of Direct Ordering, the Director of Engineering will serve as the senior level engineering leader of several teams and responsible for overall execution of project completion from initiation through delivery to ensure product delivery is on schedule and within budget. You will be responsible and accountable for engineering excellence in planning, high-level estimation, team practices, agility, delivery and maintenance of the products. As a member of the Direct Ordering team, your highly impactful role will contribute to the core functionality of the Olo platform.
You can work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. or at Olo’s headquarters in NYC on the 82nd floor of One World Trade Center.

What You’ll Do

Lead Engineering strategy, development, and execution, working closely with stakeholders within the company as well as customers
Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business and clear obstacles to help your leaders, engineering teams, and development initiatives move forward
Be a technical thought leader, influencing direction and strategy across the company and with our brands
Drive top-tier engineering quality and excellence
Influence and drive the technical architecture and key technology decisions along with other technology stakeholder partners to build for the long-term, while managing roadmaps and business needs
Attract, hire, grow, and scale engineering teams focused on building products and platforms for our brands and for internal users
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems – technical, product and people
Responsible for five engineering manager direct reports that oversee four product engineering teams with over 30 engineers collectively

What We’ll Expect From You

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
10+ years of experience engineering fault tolerant, high scale distributed systems
7+ years’ experience managing people with 4+ years of managing multiple managers/teams
Demonstrated ability to formulate data driven decisions that lead to results

Nice to Have

Masters or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering and/or relevant software development and engineering management experience
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects across teams in the unit and set strategy and priorities
